Frequently Asked Questions

Sinlaku Aid is organized by Nihi Indigenous Media, Our Common Wealth 670, Prutehi Guahan, Marianas Press, Micronesia Climate Change Alliance, Frank "the Crank" Camacho, and other partners across the Marianas and Micronesia.

Direct financial support allows families to respond to their own needs quickly and with flexibility. In the Marianas, chenchule’ systems of reciprocity and care are built on community trust. This form of giving removes barriers so families can prioritize what matters most—housing, food, medical care, or rebuilding.

This platform is for anyone impacted by Super Typhoon Sinlaku, including those facing:
  • Home loss or unlivable conditions
  • Severe property damage
  • Loss of essential needs (food, water, power, medical access)
  • Loss of income or livelihood

All submissions are reviewed before being added to the directory. We work with trusted community networks and partners to verify requests and ensure accuracy. Providing more detail helps speed up the process.

You can submit through the Direct Support Form. You may submit your own family or someone you personally know and can vouch for. All submissions are reviewed before publishing.

No, GoFundMe is not required. You can also use PayPal, Spotfund, or CashApp. However, GoFundMe is strongly encouraged for better visibility and easier donation management.

You can:
  • Donate directly to a family through their fundraiser link
  • Contribute to the general aid fund
Both options support families impacted by the typhoon.

The general fund helps:
  • Support families without fundraising access
  • Respond to urgent community needs
  • Provide shared resources for multiple households

100% of donations to the general fund are distributed directly to families. Nihi does not take any administrative or organizational fees from these contributions.

Direct donations to families are still strongly encouraged.

Sinlaku Aid is organized by Nihi Indigenous Media, Our Common Wealth 670, Prutehi Guahan, Marianas Press, Micronesia Climate Change Alliance, and partners across the Marianas and Micronesia.

Funds given directly go entirely to families. General fund contributions are used for urgent needs identified by communities.
